Academic Life Library
The Mahatma Gandhi Library was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Gopal Krishna Gandhi on 16 November 2005. Over the years, the library has been refurbished and enriched with an expanding collection of books and reference materials. The school remains committed to the continuous development of its library resources.
Designed to provide a calm and purposeful environment, the library offers ample space for reading, research, independent study, and creative thinking. Students have access to the library throughout the academic term, and regular book fairs, literary activities, and Library Council meetings are organised to encourage active participation and a strong reading culture.
The Library Council, comprising students and staff members, meets regularly to discuss the development of library resources, including books, newspapers, periodicals, reference materials, and student recommendations. Departmental libraries also complement the resources available in the Mahatma Gandhi Library.
The Mahatma Gandhi Library aims to:
- Support the educational objectives of the school by making the library an integral part of independent learning.
- Develop students’ research, study, and information-handling skills, preparing them for higher education and lifelong learning.
- Enrich the curriculum by providing relevant books, reference materials, periodicals, and other academic resources.
- Provide an environment that encourages quiet study, reflective thinking, relaxation, and independent reading.
- Promote a strong reading culture through book displays, literary events, new publications, recommendations, and book fairs.
- Encourage students to take an active role in the development of the library by welcoming their suggestions and resource requests.
- Organise workshops, interactive sessions, and talks by writers, illustrators, and other literary personalities to inspire and engage students.
